the Burmes leader has been detained in her home 11 years of the last 18 years . Her detention, which began in May 2003, was extended by another year in May 2007. Except for one hour release for a meeting in november with a senior United Nations official, the only person has been allowed to talk to is her doctor.

Efforts have been made from all around the world, not least by Condoleezza Rice the United States Secretary of State, to get her free and to serve as the country's leader, but the Junta will not listening.

Aung San Suu Kyi the leader of the National League for Democracy (NLD) party was the winner of the election in 1989, but has never been aloud to take power. She was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize 1991 for her efforts to bring democracy to Burma.
